United States Digital Space LLC seeks an Authorized Special Status Species Field Biologist for immediate field employment in southern California desert regions. The role is field-based, on-call, with remote/office linkage to a Southern California base.

Primary work focuses on Crotch’s Bumble Bee, Quino checkerspot butterfly, western spadefoot, and Stephen’s kangaroo rat surveys and regulatory monitoring, with broader habitat tasks possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology or related field
• 4 years of relevant Southern California ecoregions survey experience for listed species

Responsibilities

• Lead protocol and pre-construction surveys for listed species (Crotch’s Bumble Bee, Quino checkerspot butterfly)
• Lead and conduct targeted surveys for western spadefoot and Stephen’s kangaroo rat
• Conduct general wildlife and botanical surveys, vegetation mapping
• Support environmental compliance monitoring and restoration oversight
• Coordinate field work and data collection using electronic tools
• Work independently and as part of a team in inland and desert environments
