Job summary

The Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) invites motivated individuals to join its Fall 2027 internship on the Federal Affairs team. The intern will assist the team with research projects related to EDF's federal advocacy work, focusing on the incoming Congress, preparing educational materials, and tracking policy actions.

Reporting to the Senior Legislative Analyst, you will gain hands-on experience in policy research, memo writing, and stakeholder communication, while developing practical skills

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in/or recent graduate of an undergraduate degree program.
  • Demonstrated interest in public policy, climate change, or environmental advocacy.
  • Coursework in political science, government, or environmental studies recommended.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Relevant experience or interest in government/congressional affairs preferred.
  • Canva and Asana proficiency preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Federal Affairs team with research for EDF's federal advocacy work.
  • Research key members of Congress, candidates, and existing legislation.
  • Prepare fact sheets, backgrounders and member briefs.
