Job summary

Mercor is partnering with a leading AI lab to train frontier models on high-quality legal reasoning data. They are hiring US litigators with federal court experience for a focused motion-brief evaluation project.

You will read two motion briefs, decide which is stronger, score both on quality dimensions, and annotate PDFs with highlighted errors. The role runs about 30–40 hours in a one-week window, starts immediately, and includes a brief onboarding session.

Qualifications

• Admitted to practice in at least one US state.
• 3+ years of US litigation practice with substantial federal court experience.
• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Clear writing and close attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Read two motion briefs for the same case and pick the stronger one with clear reasoning.
• Score each brief on a defined set of dimensions.
• Annotate the brief PDFs inline, flagging legal, factual, citation and drafting errors.
• Complete all reviews as per the requirements.
• Attend a short onboarding session before kickoff.
