Job summary

Mercor is seeking an Excel Expert on a remote contract to support AI research teams by designing and evaluating Excel-based tasks for model training.

Requirements include advanced Excel expertise (XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, dynamic arrays), PivotTables, data modeling, dashboards, Power Query/Power Pivot, and macros/VBA, plus IT/Enterprise Software experience.

Available for at least 20 hours per week on weekdays, US-based, with strong written and verbal communication for collaborative work.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated advanced, professional-level Excel expertise, including advanced formulas (e.g., XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, dynamic arrays), PivotTables, data modeling, dashboards, Power Query, Power Pivot, and macros/VBA.
• Hands-on professional experience applying Excel within the IT / Enterprise Software domain.
• Demonstrable career progression in your field.
• Ability to engage reliably for at least 20 hours/week during weekdays.
• Verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, and interpersonal skills.
• United States–based only.

Responsibilities

• Guide research teams to close knowledge gaps and improve AI model performance on Excel-based tasks within the IT / Enterprise Software domain.
• Design realistic, domain-relevant Excel tasks drawn from your professional experience, and write accurate, well-structured solutions.
• Evaluate Excel tasks and solutions and provide clear, written feedback.
• Collaborate with other subject matter experts to ensure consistency and accuracy in training data
