Job summary

DS Smith is seeking a Technology Manager – OCC to lead technical performance and continuous improvement across OCC operations within the Paper division. This European-level role works across mills to identify opportunities, improve performance and share best practice using data and digitalisation.

You will build relationships with mill teams, develop action plans, support major OCC preparation projects, and help shape long-term technology and investment strategies across a Europe-wide network.

Qualifications

• Strong technical knowledge of OCC preparation and paper mill processes.
• Experience using operational data and KPIs to identify performance gaps and measure results.
• Track record of continuous improvement, technical projects or process optimization in manufacturing.
• Experience working with CAPEX projects, including RFQs, investment proposals and budgets.
• Ability to collaborate with operations, engineering, finance, suppliers and senior stakeholders across locations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to translate technical data into actionable plans.
• Proactive approach to identifying new technologies and emerging solutions.
• Willingness to travel across Europe to support mills and projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the OCC performance agenda across the DS Smith Paper division with mills and OCC specialists.
• Define, develop and track KPIs for OCC performance across the network using digital tools and data.
• Analyze data to identify trends and opportunities in fibre yield, capacity, quality and energy.
• Provide technical support for major OCC preparation projects from concept to implementation.
• Develop and support improvement plans prioritised by impact, feasibility and value.
• Share best practices across the Paper division and scale successful approaches.
