Job summary

The CDC Foundation seeks a General Epidemiologist – Hemodialysis and National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) Coordinator to work with Nevada's DPBH HAI program, performing gap assessments, developing training tools, and analyzing NHSN data for dialysis facilities.

The ideal candidate has a nursing/health-related bachelor's degree with public health experience, NHSN administration, and dialysis patient exposure; travel within Nevada may be required. Remote/hybrid, Nevada residency preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a health-related field and two years of public health experience with data analysis, objectives, protocols, or education delivery.
• Experience using CDC’s NHSN as an Administrator is required.
• Certification in Infection Control is recommended but not mandatory.
• Two-year minimum experience with hemodialysis facilities and patients.

Responsibilities

• Use NHSN and other data to identify outpatient hemodialysis facilities for ICAR assessments.
• Conduct statewide surveillance and analysis of NHSN data to monitor trends and outbreaks.
• Assist facilities with NHSN enrollment, training, and CMS/mandated reporting compliance.
• Perform outbreak investigations within state healthcare facilities and related duties.
• Engage with CMS ESRD Network and improve infection prevention capacity in dialysis facilities.
• Participate in CDC's Making Dialysis Safer for Patients Coalition.
• Conduct landscape analysis of where dialysis services are provided, including home dialysis.
• Be part of the outbreak team managing facility outbreaks; travel across Nevada may be required.
