Job summary

Steel Dynamics, Inc. biocarbon division seeks an environmental program leader to manage compliance with federal, state, and local rules. You will lead areas across air, water, waste, and EPCRA while coordinating with agencies and consultants.

The role requires a BS in a relevant field, strong project management, and the ability to drive sustainability initiatives with the corporate team. Remote collaboration and occasional site work are expected.

Qualifications

• BS in Environmental, Engineering, Metallurgy, Sustainability, or science related field is required.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple projects.
• Ability to identify issues, analyze impacts, and translate into actionable recommendations.
• Experience in environmental or sustainability field.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to influence cross-functionally.
• Willingness to work additional hours as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop and execute all environmental program areas (air, water, waste, wastewater, spill prevention & cleanup, DOT, EPCRA).
• Interact with Federal, State and Local agencies, legislators, trade groups, and consultants.
• Prepare and obtain necessary environmental permits with consultants and agencies.
• Document compliance via sampling, reporting, and recordkeeping for permits.
