Job summary

AAAS's SciLine department offers a paid summer internship focused on engagement with journalists, scientists, and content creators. The role centers on relationship-building, program design, and outreach to English- and Spanish-language media, with a strong emphasis on social media promotion and collaboration.

The 12-week remote internship runs June 1, 2026 – August 21, 2026, with an initial compensation rate of $18.40 per hour.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program (or transitioning between the two).
• Strong interest in journalism, media engagement, science communication, or public-facing programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with social media content creation.

Responsibilities

• Support relationship-building with partners by researching organizations and assisting with outreach and scheduling.
• Assist design and planning of engagement programs, events, and pilot initiatives.
• Coordinate collaborations with content creators and Spanish-language media, including outreach and follow-up communications.
• Support social media outreach across platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Bluesky).
• Prepare briefings and research to inform partnerships and strategy.
• Assist staff with coordination, documentation, and engagement projects.
