Job summary

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority seeks a Senior Director – Operations Procurement to lead the LIRR procurement group, driving strategic sourcing of assets and services while ensuring regulatory compliance and value for multi‑agency needs. Telework is possible one day per week.

The role requires extensive leadership experience, deep knowledge of public sector procurement, and the ability to coordinate with internal departments and external partners to deliver cost effective solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Arts/Sciences or related field as listed; 12+ years procurement/contract experience preferred.
• Minimum 4 years of experience managing professional staff.
• Strong understanding of public sector procurement regulations (FAR/FTA).
• Ability to communicate with Board and external stakeholders at high level.
• Proven track record in strategic procurement and savings initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Direct procurement contracts lifecycle from solicitation to close-out, ensuring compliance and value.
• Oversee major equipment and systems procurement for multiple LIRR departments; track delivery and inventory.
• Lead and develop staff; provide coaching, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions when necessary.
• Coordinate with ADCPO, LIRR stakeholders, and external agencies to align procurement with agency goals.
• Ensure adherence to Board reporting requirements and joint procurement initiatives.
