Job summary

City of New York's Department of Transportation seeks a City Planner to join the School Safety group in RIS. You will analyze geospatial data, develop maps, coordinate with agencies, and support the School Slow Zone program aiming for safer streets.

Responsibilities include community outreach and presentations, as well as creating design analyses for street improvements while advancing Vision Zero goals. NYC residency is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must have a baccalaureate degree and two years of city planning experience.
  • Graduate education may substitute for experience per policy; however a bachelor's degree is required.
  • Strong skills in GIS, data analysis, and written/presentational communication are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, analyze, and map School Safety projects using geospatial data.
  • Coordinate with agencies and stakeholders to advance School Slow Zone initiatives.
  • Develop analyses for program design, prioritization, and evaluation.
  • Conduct outreach, presentations, and provide clear recommendations.
