Job summary

The South Dakota Department of Health is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse Health Facilities Surveyor to protect residents in licensed facilities. The role surveys patient care areas, dietary, infection control, and the physical environment, ensuring regulatory compliance.

Travel is required and a state vehicle is provided with per diem. Remote work is possible up to 3 days weekly after a 6-month probation, with in-office days in Rapid City, Pierre, Mitchell, or Sioux Falls.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN eligible to practice in SD.
• Experience with survey processes and standards is preferred.
• Ability to convey information clearly and check for understanding.

Responsibilities

• Survey patients, dietary, infection control, resident rights, and physical environment in health care facilities.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations to protect health and safety.
• Travel for surveys and use state vehicle; per diem provided; work from home up to 3 days a week after probation.
