Job summary

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (DOA) in New Orleans seeks an Assistant District Counsel (Attorney, GS-13) to advise on contract and procurement law, litigation, labor, real estate, environmental, tort/admiralty, and more. Position is permanent, full-time, with relocation assistance and situational telework.

Salary range is $106,437–$138,370 per year. Travel up to 10% may be required. Eligibility for relocation / PCS may be authorized; security clearance not required. Open to the public.

Qualifications

• Education: ABA-accredited law school and JD/LLB.
• Bar membership in good standing.
• Two+ years professional legal experience after bar admission (GS-13).
• Time-in-grade requirements may apply for current federal employees.

Responsibilities

• Prepare legal opinions and instruments, render legal advice balancing interests.
• Advise clients on national programs, ensuring consistency with agency policy.
• Prepare or review complex legal issues and opinions on state and federal laws and regulations.
• Conduct research related to complex legal questions.
• Serve as trial attorney, support DoJ, and provide litigation advice to District Commander and senior staff.
• Collaborate effectively with individuals of varied technical and professional backgrounds.
