Job summary

Minnesota Department of Natural Resources in Tower, MN, seeks an Area Fisheries Supervisor to oversee planning, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive fisheries management program for the Tower Fisheries Management Area, protecting and enhancing aquatic resources.

This full-time, day-shift position offers a flexible work arrangement with possible telework during winter after probation, and requires a Bachelor's in biology or fisheries, emphasizing supervisory duties, budgeting, and

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in biology, fisheries, or closely related area.
Four years of professional level experience in fisheries management, research, or related field.
Supervisory or lead worker experience and coaching/conflict resolution skills.
Written and oral communication skills for reports and presentations.
Ability to work in adverse weather and operate boats/equipment safely.

Responsibilities

Supervise and administer planning, implementation, and evaluation of fisheries management program for Tower area.
Direct area headquarters with budget responsibility to support operations and staff.
Coordinate an investigational fisheries program to inform long- and short-term planning.
Direct fish stocking and propagation to enhance sport fishing opportunities.
Coordinate with local associations and other units of government on fisheries management plans.
