Job summary

The DNR in Minnesota seeks one NR Area Supervisor Fisheries to manage a comprehensive fisheries program in the Tower area. You will supervise staff, direct area operations, and collaborate with local groups to implement fisheries plans protecting resources.

The role emphasizes safety, public outreach, and building partnerships with agencies and stakeholders to sustain fishing opportunities across local and regional scales.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree in biology, fisheries, or closely associated area required; transcripts required.
• Four years of professional level experience in fisheries management, research, ecology or related field.
• Four years supervisory or lead worker experience with coaching and conflict resolution.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to work in a team.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills for technical reports and presentations.
• Ability to safely work in adverse weather and operate boats/equipment.
• Computer proficiency with databases, spreadsheets, and statistics.

Responsibilities

• Perform supervisory functions to ensure efficient operations.
• Direct and operate an area headquarters with budget responsibility.
• Coordinate, supervise, and implement a fisheries investigational program.
• Direct fish stocking and propagation programs to enhance opportunities.
• Coordinate with local associations and units of government on management plans.
• Provide a public relations program to inform clientele of fisheries activities.
• Coordinate management and research activities to meet goals with minimal conflicts.
• Ensure staff safety and a healthy, inclusive work environment.
