Job summary

Bowman is seeking an Electrical Studies Engineer II to perform power system studies for utility-scale solar and BESS projects. This remote US role focuses on short circuit, load flow, grounding, arc flash, and coordination analysis, with opportunity to engage with PV/BESS design engineers and utilities.

Candidates should be familiar with SKM/ETAP/PSSE-like tools; PE license preferred but not required. Growth opportunities and client-facing responsibilities are included.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical studies including AC/DC short circuit, arc flash, load flow, grounding, protection coordination, transient and switching overvoltage using industry software.
• Develop study scopes, assumptions, methodologies, data requests and calculation packages.
• Build, validate, and maintain models for collector systems, substations, inverter-based resources, and auxiliary systems.
• Review study inputs and reports; provide QA/QC and technical feedback.
• Coordinate with PV/BESS design engineers, substation engineers, OEMs, utilities, and contractors to meet milestones.
• Identify issues and collaborate with clients and team to execute effective solutions.
• Generate Single Line Diagrams and interpret interconnection requirements.
• Report project status to Senior Managers regularly.
• Request financial, legal and technical support as needed to keep projects on track.
• Provide estimates of time to perform tasks.
• Apply broad engineering knowledge to project tasks.
• Oversee designs through construction and completion.
• Communicate with engineers, equipment manufacturers, and project stakeholders.
• Occasionally conduct field visits to document existing conditions.
• Organize and prioritize tasks to complete designs efficiently.
• Produce project study documents to meet milestones within hourly budgets.
• Attend coordination and design meetings and weekly management meetings.
• Define project scope and requirements; address client and AHJ comments; adjust designs as needed.
• Review construction administrative items when directed.
• Work within established project parameters and maintain knowledge of applicable codes.
