Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Electrical Estimator / Cost Manager to deliver accurate cost estimates for electrical scopes on large preconstruction projects. You will support early-phase budgets, cost planning, and value engineering while collaborating with clients and project teams.

The role emphasizes strong trades-level experience, remote flexibility within the US, and the ability to mentor estimators and lead cost guidance through evolving designs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in electrical estimating.
• Strong experience in conceptual estimating and early project planning.
• Deep technical understanding of electrical systems and construction methodologies.
• Experience supporting large, complex commercial construction projects.
• Ability to read and interpret schedules, drawings, and specifications.
• Advanced proficiency with cost estimating methods, tools, and processes.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills for detailed cost modeling and analysis.
• Experience using modern estimating software such as Accubid, Bluebeam, and Procore.
• Ability to analyze evolving designs and provide clear cost guidance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client-facing and internal interactions.
• Experience in MEP-focused estimating or cost consulting for electrical systems.
• Comfort working on project budgets, bidding, take-offs, and quantity surveying for electrical construction.

Responsibilities

• Prepare conceptual, schematic, and detailed cost estimates for electrical scopes across multiple preconstruction projects.
• Support development of project budgets, cost planning, feasibility studies, and value engineering.
• Perform QA/QC reviews on estimating deliverables for accuracy and compliance.
• Plan workloads and manage tasks for estimating activities to meet deadlines.
• Conduct value analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality.
• Reconcile change orders, invoices, and cost impacts with contractors and third parties.
• Provide post-contract cost support, including bid analysis and cost tracking.
• Participate in risk and value management evaluations to mitigate risks.
• Mentor and support estimators and estimating technicians.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships with clear cost guidance.
• Prepare client-facing reports, milestone estimates, and executive-ready summaries.
• Engage with internal stakeholders to align budgets and strategies.
• Participate in peer reviews to improve estimating processes.
• Stay informed on market conditions and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with regional offices to support preconstruction and cost management.
• Contribute to bidding, quantity take-offs, and low-voltage electrical estimation.
