Job summary

Mentor A Promise seeks a volunteer Editor (Storytelling, Curriculum & Communications) based in New York City. This role aims to enhance clarity and creativity in materials aimed at children and youth experiencing housing instability.

You will edit various content types, support writers, and ensure the materials reflect trauma-informed approaches. The commitment is approximately 5–10 hours per week, with a minimum 6-month commitment preferred, and remote collaboration is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Experience editing written content for clarity and coherence.
• Ability to work collaboratively with writers and creative teams.
• Familiarity with trauma-informed and culturally responsive language.

Responsibilities

• Edit content ensuring clarity, coherence, and tone.
• Review and provide feedback on educational and communications materials.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to refine content.

Skills

Experience in editing, proofreading, publishing, communications, or education

Strong command of written English and editorial standards
