The Journal of the American Animal Hospital Association (JAAHA) seeks a part-time Editor-in-Chief to guide editorial vision, scientific rigor, and integrity. Remote leadership will steer content strategy, peer-review standards, and collaboration with AAHA staff and ABVP editors.

The successful candidate holds a DVM or equivalent, with prior editorial experience in scholarly publishing; board certification or a doctoral degree is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree required; advanced training preferred.
• Significant experience in clinical practice, academic medicine, or publishing.
• Prior editorial experience (editor-in-chief or similar) strongly preferred.

Responsabilités

• Editorial leadership & strategy and senior direction for JAAHA.
• Oversee peer-review process, decisions, and ethical standards.
• Manage editorial board, recruit and mentor editors and reviewers.
• Ensure scientific integrity, conflicts of interest, and data quality.
• Develop content initiatives, special issues, and author development.
• Collaborate with AAHA staff and maintain effective communication with stakeholders.
• Monitor metrics and contribute to editorial operations and budgeting.
