Job summary

Lifeline of Ohio is seeking a Donation Support Services Coordinator - Night Shift to organize and assist with tasks so that donation efforts run smoothly across multiple stakeholders. They provide communication and ensure compliance with all regulating agencies to facilitate donation and maximize organ, eye, and tissue donation.

You will work closely with hospital staff, funeral homes, coroners, tissue technicians and organ recovery staff to coordinate the donation process and educate families

Qualifications

  • Certification in a healthcare related field or secondary degree in education, medical or healthcare preferred.
  • 2+ years experience working in a call center environment or a relevant combination of the above listed education and experience.
  • Able to work night shift hours.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate referral and case information with internal and external partners.
  • Communicate with partners and provide follow-up on donor cases.
  • Assess donor suitability and coordinate with organ/tissue teams.
  • Coordinate transportation of donor and manage case progression.
  • Document information in charting database and ensure policy compliance.

Lifeline of Ohio coordinates and promotes organ, eye, and tissue donation across Ohio, and we are seeking a Donation Support Services Coordinator - Night Shift to join our team.

Job Summary

A DSS Coordinator organizes and assists with tasks so that donation efforts run smoothly across multiple stakeholders. They provide communication and ensure compliance with all regulating, governing and accepting agencies to facilitate and maximize organ, eye and tissue donation. They work closely with hospital staff, funeral homes, coroners, tissue technicians and organ recovery staff to coordinate the donation process. They ensure all families are educated and aware of the opportunity to pursue organ, eye, and tissue donation.

Position Details
  • This is a full-time, non-exempt, benefits eligible position. Schedule is 7:00 PM-7:00 AM, and has 3 12-hour shifts and one 4 hour shift per week. Upon hire, the first week of training will be conducted during day shift hours. Only candidates working from Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky or South Carolina will be considered at this time.
Referral Initiation
  • Obtains and enters patient medical and social information provided by partners
  • Assures pertinent referral/case information is communicated to appropriate internal and external stakeholders
  • Communicates with external partners and provides necessary follow-up
  • Identifies initial suitability for tissue and eye donors
  • Assesses appropriate state donor registry for registry status or makes contact with appropriate organ procurement organization for designation.
Evaluation
  • Documents and evaluates relevant medical suitability criteria for all potential tissue and eye donors
  • Understands and applies all internal/ external policies, procedures and standards relevant to donor suitability
  • Communicates with Coroner as applicable to obtain permission for donation and any requests
  • Builds positive, productive and professional rapport with tissue processor staff
Authorization
  • Consults with internal and external partners in the coordination and authorization and UDRAI process for potential donors
  • Works with authorizing agent (aka legal next of kin) to:
  • identify, discuss donation potential
  • Provides core elements during authorization
  • Compile medical/social questionnaire per governing agency guidelines
  • Supports donor family with follow-up as needed
  • Contacts tissue/eye processors for review and acceptance of donor
  • Communicates authorization information to both internal and external stakeholders (Tissue team, tissue/eye processors, Transportation, Coroner, Funeral Home, etc)
  • Documents required information in charting database
  • Works with Quality and Regulatory Affairs to ensure documentation standards are met and any deviations from policy or protocol are documented
Case Follow-up
  • Coordinates transportation of donor for recovery
  • Completes all “touch base” calls during progression of case and post case follow ups
  • Determines appropriate approach intervals given case dynamics
  • Ensures all case checklists are being completed in a timely manner during the progression of the case
  • Delivers shift report and receives shift report from the previous shift Charge
Requirements
