Job Description

Location: Remote

Schedule: 8a-4:30p M-F

Job Summary:

Prime Physicians is seeking an experienced Flight Surgeon with Aerospace Medicine expertise or Occupational Medicine physician (or FM/IM/Geriatrics) to serve as a Medical Director supporting complex case reviews. The ideal candidate will provide expert clinical guidance on medical standards, support resolution of special medical cases, and collaborate with referring clinicians and administrative staff to ensure comprehensive care assessments and policy compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Medical Director, overseeing the application of clinical standards across a variety of cases
  • Provide clinical recommendations on cases involving medical readiness, licensing, return to duty, and special medical reviews
  • Evaluate patient records and issue disposition recommendations for complex case types, such as:
  • Occupational health evaluations
  • Clearance for specific job functions or return-to-work decisions
  • Disability, convalescent leave, and case management assessments
  • Appeals, complaint reviews, and benefit-related medical documentation
  • Collaborate with clinical teams and administrative personnel to ensure timely and compliant case closure
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure all medical decisions align with applicable policies and best practices

Qualifications:

  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree
  • Certification as a Flight Surgeon or demonstrated experience in Aerospace Medicine
  • Active, unrestricted medical license in good standing in any U.S. state or territory
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in occupational health, internal medicine, emergency medicine, flight medicine, or a related field
  • Strong decision-making, clinical documentation, and communication skills
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Familiarity with medical review standards and documentation protocols
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Competitive hourly rate based on experience and qualifications
  • Flexible remote schedule with defined case turnaround timelines
  • Full time W2 with benefits or independent contractor position (flexible)
