Job summary

The YMCA of the USA is seeking a Director, Thriving Ys to strengthen and grow our movement by delivering specialized consulting and capacity-building to Alliances and local YMCAs across the network.

This remote-first role leads trainings, resources, and tools, guides collaborations, and supports mergers and service-area disputes, with a focus on sustainable programs and leadership transitions across the continental United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field such as Business or related disciplines required; advanced degree strongly preferred.
• 8–12 years of experience required.
• Expert functional skills, advanced industry knowledge and experience, advanced managerial skills.
• Manages multiple teams or functions.
• Strategic and operational decision-making authority.
• Minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized consulting services to systematically identify operational improvement strategies for all Ys.
• Facilitate projects with partners and local YMCAs in development and execution of plans.
• Provide education and consultations focusing on strategic collaborations with Alliances.
• Resolve service area disputes between member associations and YMCAs seeking new service area.
• Support new YMCA corporate and branch development initiatives.
• Assist in leadership transitions, including interim CEO recruitment for YMCAs.
• Maintain a proprietary knowledge database to support knowledge management.
• Stay updated on developments in related services and apply new tools across the network.
• Act as primary contact for a topic area on Y-USA’s knowledge platform and oversee content curation and moderation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
