Qualifications

• MD/DO degree with medical license preferred.
• Ophthalmology residency and/or board certification strongly preferred.
• Experience in pharmaceutical safety, clinical development or related field (5+ years total, 2+ years in safety).
• Strong ability to synthesize diverse data into clear safety conclusions and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Lead proactive patient safety and benefit-risk strategy for investigational compounds in early development.
• Provide medical safety leadership for first-in-human, dose-escalation, and other studies, reviewing protocols, safety plans and study reports.
• Integrate clinical, nonclinical, translational and epidemiologic data to identify emerging safety risks and inform development strategy.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to define risk-management and contribute to governance, regulatory interactions and go/no-go decisions.
• Oversee safety surveillance, signal evaluation, aggregate safety assessment, and input to regulatory documents (DSURs, RMPs, safety sections).
• Represent Patient Safety in internal and external forums and lead strategic safety initiatives.
