Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Director of Social Media Strategy and Operations to develop and govern enterprise social media strategy and digital communications. This role partners across UnitedHealth Group, UnitedHealthcare, and Optum to align processes, tools, risk and best practices.

Remote work from anywhere in the U.S. is supported; the role requires senior leadership, program governance, and strong cross-functional collaboration to drive adoption and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in social media or digital marketing.
• Experience developing enterprise-wide social media governance programs.
• Experience managing social media platforms and vendor relationships.
• Experience driving organizational change management and process adoption.
• Experience developing training and engagement programs for tool adoption.
• Experience managing budgets, contracts, RFPs, and vendor selection.
• Deep experience with content creation, discovery, and social media systems.

Responsibilities

• Support social media governance and optimize across the organization.
• Identify operational gaps and implement efficiency improvements.
• Collaborate with legal, compliance and procurement to update policies.
• Lead training and onboarding for teams and partners.
• Manage social media governance tools, licenses, and adoption.
• Oversee RFPs, tool selection, and budgeting in a matrixed environment.
• Foster cross-functional collaboration across communications, legal, procurement, marketing, and operations.
