Job summary

Fleetio is seeking a Director of Engineering for its Leverage Engineering Pod. You will lead and scale three squads, align strategy with product and platform goals, and drive measurable speedups across internal customers. You will manage budgets, partner delivery, and a path to agentic development with AI tools.

You will report to the VP of Engineering, partner with CTO, and hire senior engineers while shaping the Pod's roadmap and investment case end-to-end.

Qualifications

• 3+ years leading engineering organizations as a director or senior manager.
• Experience guiding platform/foundations or developer-productivity teams.
• Proven track record delivering with outside partners (agencies/outsourcing).
• Daily use of AI development tools and a vision for agentic development.

Responsibilities

• Own strategy and outcomes for a portfolio spanning shared frameworks, tooling, and partner delivery.
• Drive adoption of shared frameworks and services across Pods; prove multiplier effect with data.
• Stand up the Solutions Engineering Squad and oversee contracting and SOW with commercial teams.
• Modernize the Product Development Lifecycle and lead AI-assisted to agentic development shifts.
• Run a disciplined intake to multiply the organization and guard its charter.
• Hire and develop engineering managers and senior ICs; manage performance and engagement.
• Collaborate with VP of Engineering, CTO, Platform Engineering, and Design System teams.
