Job summary

Thorne is seeking a Director of Clinical Affairs to lead the design, execution, and oversight of clinical research and consumer study programs within the R&D group. You will drive evidence-based claims, manage trials, and ensure regulatory compliance across global standards.

The role requires deep expertise in trial management, vendor oversight, and scientific communications within the dietary supplement/nutrition space. Remote work is offered with collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Clinical Research, or related field (advanced degree preferred: MSc, PhD, MD).
• 7-10+ years of experience in clinical research and clinical operations roles in consumer-packaged goods, dietary supplements, nutritional and/or functional foods.
• Proven experience in designing and managing human clinical trials and consumer claims studies in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of clinical trial methodology, GCP, ICH, FDA, FTC regulations and standards.
• Expertise in project management, budgeting, vendor oversight, and risk management.
• Solid understanding of biostatistics and data integrity principles.
• Ability to communicate complex scientific data to technical, regulatory, and business stakeholders.
• Understanding of consumer-packaged goods (natural supplements and/or pharmaceutical) clinical practices.
• Experience in writing educational content for various audiences including (but not limited to), Consumers, HCP’s, etc.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement the clinical research roadmap aligned with product innovation.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to design substantiating studies.
• Oversee end-to-end planning and execution of human clinical trials.
• Ensure compliance with GCP, ICH, FDA, FTC regulations.
• Direct data collection, analysis, and reporting with biostatistics support.
• Manage CROs and study vendors for quality and integrity.
• Lead and mentor the Clinical Affairs team.
• Develop KPIs and improve clinical workflows.
• Collaborate on publishing opportunities.
• Maintain regulatory and compliance standards.
