Job summary

Sysco Specialty Meat Group is seeking a Category and Assortment Director to lead enterprise-wide category and assortment strategies. This role drives KPIs, optimizes customer-facing assortment, and aligns with sales, supply chain, and revenue management. Remote work available with travel as needed.

The candidate will lead cross-functional collaboration, develop scalable category plans, and guide data-driven initiatives across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college/university or equivalent combination of education/experience.
• 10+ years leadership experience in Category Management or merchandising analytics in retail, specialty, or foodservice industry.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute category and assortment strategic plans and objectives supporting SSMG’s transformational goals.
• Leverage size and scale to build category assortments, enhancing consistency and reducing unnecessary uniqueness.
• Create unbiased performance metrics to assess strategy effectiveness.
• Design centrally led national/regional category assortments and customer-specific offerings.
• Lead change management to ensure successful execution at all levels.
• Collaborate with USBL partners on assortment stocking using data, insights, and go-to-market strategies.
• Address evolving process and technology needs for national, regional, and local assortment management.
• Oversee product development, SKU rationalization/standardization, SKU creation, and data/image attribution.
• Provide ongoing leadership oversight of multiple projects/initiatives.
