Job summary

San Diego State University is seeking a Development Officer to grow philanthropic support for Entrepreneurship Initiatives and university priorities. You will manage a donor portfolio, qualify opportunities, cultivate relationships, and secure leadership annual and major gifts of $25,000 or more.

Approximately half of efforts support Entrepreneurship Initiatives within the Fowler College of Business, with the rest benefiting other campus priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field or combination of education and experience.
• Two years of entry-level development experience or related fundraising background.
• Ability to articulate a compelling case for annual support of a public higher education institution.

Responsibilities

• Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors for leadership annual and major gifts.
• Manage donor relationships through meetings, events, and personalized outreach.
• Conduct discovery conversations to understand donor interests and giving potential.
• Move prospects through the donor pipeline with strategy and collaboration.
• Create stewardship opportunities to strengthen long-term donor relationships.
• Support programs across Entrepreneurship Initiatives and the university.
