Job summary

San Diego State University is seeking a Development Officer to grow philanthropic support for Entrepreneurship Initiatives and priorities across the university. You will manage a portfolio of prospective donors, cultivate relationships, and help secure leadership annual and major gifts of $25,000 or more.

The role focuses on building relationships with alumni, donors, parents, business leaders, and community members, with responsibilities spanning donor research, strategy, and portfolio

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, in a relevant field or combination of education and experience.
• Two years of entry-level development experience.
• Ability to articulate a compelling case for annual support of a public institution of higher education.
• Ability to interact comfortably with university officials and community/business leaders.

Responsibilities

• Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospective donors for leadership annual and major gifts of $25,000 or more.
• Manage donor relationships through meetings, calls, events, email outreach, and personalized engagement.
• Conduct discovery conversations to understand donor interests, philanthropic priorities, and giving potential.
• Move prospects through the donor pipeline and collaborate with development colleagues on cultivation and solicitation strategies.
• Create meaningful stewardship opportunities that strengthen long-term donor relationships.
