Job summary

APEX Investigation is seeking a Desktop Investigator in the United States to conduct social media investigations, background checks, and medical canvasses. You will gather OSINT, analyze findings, and prepare clear, actionable reports to guide field investigators and inform client decisions.

This full-time, remote role requires experience in insurance-related investigations, strong analytical and communication skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Must have experience in insurance-related investigations, especially Workers’ Compensation fraud or personal injury claims.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to present findings clearly.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in social media, OSINT techniques, and internet research.
• Experience with public record searches; familiarity with the California court system.

Responsibilities

• Perform social media research, public record searches, and OSINT investigations.
• Use databases and online tools to build leads and support case development.
• Analyze, cross-reference, and document findings in clear reports tailored to assignments.
• Identify additional investigative services that may benefit ongoing cases.
• Conduct medical canvasses, background checks, and skip tracing assignments.
• Monitor social media activity and provide timely updates to clients.
• Review public records including criminal, civil, business filings, licenses and insurance claims.
• Assist with quality assurance for investigative reports.
• Experienced investigators may mentor and train new team members.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
