Canonical is hiring a Design Manager to lead and contribute to our Visual Design practice supporting brand and site experiences. This is a hands‑on leadership role suited to experienced designers who excel in people management, delivery ownership and strategic thinking.

You will lead a team of visual designers responsible for brand and site‑related work across Canonical. You will drive innovation, set direction, maintain quality, and ensure delivery supporting continuous professional growth of

Qualifikationen

• A portfolio demonstrating excellence in leading design process and execution, visually.
• Experience managing complex projects and a design team while remaining involved in work.
• Advanced knowledge of visual design principles (typography, layout, colour, systems).
• Ability to manage ambiguity, priorities, and limited resources with calm leadership.
• Clear point of view with openness to critique and strong usability focus.
• Commitment to skills development and mentorship of designers.
• Demonstrated passion for technology and design for digital products.
• Thoughtful, self-motivated, and results-oriented with reliable delivery.
• Exceptional educational achievement in design or compelling alternative path.
• Professional written and spoken English.

• Lead design process and execution across brand and site experiences.
• Guide a team of visual designers with hands-on contribution when needed.
• Support professional growth of designers through mentoring and feedback.
• Oversee workflows and production processes for efficiency and quality.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Web Engineering and Design Systems Director to align outcomes.
• Evolve design systems and guidelines to drive consistency and quality.
• Coordinate with design leadership to mature the practice.
• Foster cross-team collaboration and share work to strengthen culture.
