Job summary

GovCIO is hiring a Data Engineer to design and build enriched healthcare datasets using medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold) in Databricks. You will source data from the VA Corporate Data Warehouse and other systems, and feed analytics-ready data into Power BI semantic models used across the organization.

You will work with clients to gather requirements, track work in JIRA, and deliver high-quality pipelines with clear documentation, tests, and data lineage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of related experience.
• Hands-on experience building data pipelines in Databricks with PySpark/SQL.
• Strong SQL skills with complex joins and performance tuning.
• Experience with Power BI semantic models.
• Experience using GitHub for version control.
• Experience using JIRA to track work.
• Strong communication with clients and stakeholders.
• Understanding medallion data architecture (bronze/silver/gold).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain datasets using medallion architecture in Databricks.
• Develop and monitor Databricks jobs and pipelines.
• Prepare and optimize gold-layer datasets for Power BI.
• Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and team members to validate outputs.
• Log and track work items in JIRA and GitHub.
• Write ad hoc queries for client requests and analyses.
• Perform data validation and QA on pipelines and datasets.
• Document data lineage and transformation rules.
