Job summary

Samsara is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Data Platform team. You’ll design, build, and operate scalable data infrastructure powering a data lakehouse and analytics platform, enabling engineers and data scientists to move and access petabytes of data securely and efficiently.

You will work with Spark, Databricks, Delta Lake on S3, and AWS services, developing Go and Python tooling while collaborating with multiple teams to shape the company’s data roadmap and AI capabilities.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering in production environments.
• 4+ years building or maintaining large-scale production data infrastructure or data platforms.
• Strong experience with Apache Spark or similar distributed data processing systems.
• Experience operating AWS production infrastructure (S3, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS, Kinesis, Lambda).
• Ownership mindset with focus on scalability, observability, and security.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, Scala, or Java.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate high-scale data ingestion and replication from production stores into a data lakehouse.
• Maintain reliable, scalable data platform infrastructure for analytics, AI, and product use cases.
• Improve reliability and observability of Spark and Databricks-based processing.
• Develop internal libraries and tooling in Go and Python for data movement and safety.
• Work on Delta Lake, data catalogs, metadata services, and orchestration systems.
• Collaborate with infra, data science, analytics, security, and product teams to deliver scalable solutions.
• Shape Samsara’s long-term data infrastructure roadmap including AI support and privacy.
