Job summary

DEFCON AI seeks a Data & ML Engineer to build the data and model layer behind an AI-enabled decision-support system inside a controlled environment. You will handle ingestion from multiple sources, record matching, relevance scoring, and grounded generation with traceability to sources.

This fully remote role includes up to 25% travel to DEFCON AI HQ, customer sites, and vendor facilities as required, using Python, PostgreSQL, and vector-based retrieval on secure data stores.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, applied machine learning, ML engineering, or production analytics engineering

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain the graph of entities, records, and typed relationships.
• Implement probabilistic matching with blocking, candidate generation, scoring, clustering, and thresholds.
• Build deduplication and known-record suppression.
• Establish provenance so every node and edge traces to the source.
• Produce interface and data-flow design documentation for engineers.
• Develop embeddings, vector storage, and retrieval over provenance data.
• Bind generated text to cited sources and ensure 'insufficient evidence' responses are allowed.
