Job summary

Penn State University Information Technology, in partnership with Office of Planning, Assessment, and Institutional Research (OPAIR), seeks a Data Engineer to build and optimize data pipelines, warehouses, and BI-ready data for state and federal reporting and university initiatives.

The role involves collaboration across teams, primarily working with SQL Server/Oracle-based ETL, and a blend of on-premise and cloud considerations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required with 1+ years of relevant experience.
Experience with Oracle database systems and ODI is essential.
Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and SSIS is essential.
Excellent communication, time management, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with data engineers to support Penn State IT data initiatives.
Support Institutional Research, Assessment, Data Governance and related teams.
Craft, sustain, and enhance ETL solutions on Oracle/SQL Server infrastructure.
Monitor and maintain data acquisition jobs and improve development methodologies.
Communicate progress and address concerns with management and peers.
Work with cloud technologies as needed; current focus is on-premise systems.
