Job summary

Team Velocity is seeking a mid-level Data Engineer to build and scale a data platform powering analytics, BI, ML, and customer-facing products. You’ll design reliable, high-performance pipelines and modern architectures to keep data trusted, accessible, and actionable.

This remote, full-time role favors Eastern or Central time zones and requires 2–3 years of experience, with strong SQL/Python, Snowflake, and data modeling skills.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience in Data Engineering or related field (internships and co-ops count).
• Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with a modern cloud data platform, preferably Snowflake.
• Proficiency with Python and solid software development practices.
• Experience building and maintaining ELT/ETL pipelines.
• Understanding of data modeling and data warehousing concepts.
• Experience integrating structured and semi-structured data from multiple sources.
• Familiarity with data orchestration and transformation frameworks.
• Git and version-control use in a team environment.
• Strong troubleshooting and communication, able to work independently in a remote-first setting.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and ELT/ETL workflows.
• Develop and optimize data models and data structures for reporting, analytics, ML, and operational apps.
• Use Snowflake and modern cloud data platforms to ingest, transform, and optimize large datasets.
• Partner with BI and Data Science teams to deliver production-ready datasets.
• Build data foundations for AI/ML workloads with clean, governed datasets and feature tables.
• Implement data quality, validation, and monitoring processes.
• Support batch and near real-time data integration requirements.
• Contribute to APIs and data services for internal and customer-facing apps.
• Leverage AI coding assistants while owning code quality and production readiness.
• Improve pipeline performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Document architectures, pipelines, and engineering standards.
• Participate in code and design reviews to uphold best practices.
