Job summary

The Data Analysis Intern role is a fully remote, paid internship with Stand Together Fellowships, working on Open the Books’ public spending database. You will help design research projects and analyze federal, state, and local datasets to tell stories about government efficiency.

Ideal candidates are early-career or current students with a passion for data-driven policy analysis and strong Excel/visualization skills. Remote work is supported nationwide.

Qualifications

• Willing to proactively report progress and pitch ideas in a remote work environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel with an interest in further training on data analytics tools.
• Experience with visualization tools like Tableau, PowerBI or comparable tools is a plus.
• Enthusiastic about using data to tell surprising, counterintuitive stories about public policy outcomes
• Aligned with our vision to hold government accountable for its use of tax dollars and steer public spending back toward founding principles

Responsibilities

• Brainstorm and develop creative research projects using Open the Books’ database.
• Analyze datasets to draw interesting conclusions about government spending.
• Brainstorm and pitch comparative analyses to offer taxpayers new insights.
