Job summary

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources seeks a Conservation Assistance and Regulation Section Manager in St. Paul. You will direct statewide water regulation, environmental review, land-use and dam safety programs, ensuring policy compliance and program excellence.

Lead a team, manage budgets, engage with diverse partners, and promote safety and equity in a dynamic agency setting. Telework up to 50% may be available under an approved agreement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in natural resources sciences such as ecological resources, water resources, natural resource management, or closely related field.
• Minimum of three years managerial or advanced supervisory experience directing and supervising ecological resources, water resources, natural resource management programs and staff.
• Management and leadership skills, administrative, organizational and interpersonal skills to direct, develop and engage staff.
• Ability to effectively work in a team environment by incorporating multi-disciplined interests into decisions and actions.
• Experience with elected government officials, local units of government staff, state and federal agencies, watershed districts, lake associations and related organizations.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction, planning, administration, and management of the Conservation Assistance and Regulation Section programs.
• Provide strategic leadership and supervision for Section staff to attain program standards.
• Coordinate and liaise between the Section and Division/other agencies and external organizations.
• Collaborate as a Division Leadership Team member to translate mission into operational direction.
• Direct development and management of biennial budgets and annual spending plans for the Section.
• Pursue opportunities to secure and leverage external funding sources.
• Promote a healthy, safe, inclusive and productive work environment.
