Job summary

Qualifications

  • BA/BS with at least 4 years of experience or eight years total experience.
  • Experience working with Waubun-Ogema-White Earth Schools education system
  • Valid driver's license and ability to transit between locations in the White Earth community
  • Strong knowledge of White Earth Nation, culture, and history
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and foster anti-racism and health equity in University of Minnesota trainees and faculty
  • Prior training or experience in community or public health initiatives within a Native American community
  • Prior training or experience in community health relationship development
  • Experience collaborating on educational innovation and curriculum development in medical education settings
  • Experience with Tribal communities and social determinants of health

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and implementation of strategies to establish and sustain White Earth community-centered health workforce and health education partnerships.
  • Develop, coordinate, and evaluate community health initiatives within White Earth focused on health promotion, health education, and health workforce development.
  • Identify community priorities and determine strategies for connecting White Earth community members and youth with University health education and workforce initiatives.
  • Provide guidance on culturally responsive engagement with the White Earth community and White Earth Indian Health Service to UMN faculty, staff, and learners.
  • Partner with White Earth community stakeholders, CAIMH educators, faculty, and staff to support education initiatives across the medical education continuum.
  • Provide expertise regarding social determinants of health affecting the White Earth community and incorporate into educational initiatives.
  • Assess effectiveness of engagement strategies and adjust as needed for participation and sustainability.
  • Support stability of the UMN physician partnership with White Earth IHS by coordinating needs and solutions.
