Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board seeks a Communications Consultant 4 to lead agency-wide communications, media relations, and education materials. The role develops content for intranet, website, and publications, drafts talking points for leadership, and produces video content for internal and external audiences.

The position, based in Olympia with hybrid in-office requirements, collaborates with Public Health Education and other teams to inform diverse stakeholders and support

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years of professional experience in communications, journalism, or public relations performing tasks such as writing news releases in AP style, preparing messages and presentations for executive-level staff, and communicating with broad and diverse audiences using a variety of communication tools.
• Five (5) years of professional experience in communications, journalism, or public relations performing tasks such as writing news releases in AP style, preparing messages and presentations for executive-level staff, and communicating with broad and diverse audiences using a variety of communication tools.
• To qualify at the Communications Consultant 4 level, an appropriate bachelor's degree may substitute as needed for education.
• Additional professional experience in communications, journalism, or public relations will be substituted year for year for education.

Responsibilities

• Regularly creates content for the agency-wide intranet.
• Identifies LCB relevant news from online sources and summarizes for Board and staff.
• Organizes and publishes website content using usability standards for a broad audience.
• Produces and edits video content including scripts and audio.
• Drafts talking points and presentations for Board and Agency Director.
• Advises senior staff on effective communication techniques and strategies.
• Develops education materials for diverse audiences in coordination with Public Health Education Liaison.
• Prepares quarterly internal/external newsletters.
