Qualifications

• Requires good interpersonal and communications skills and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Interpret medical record data to process physician and/or facility charges.
• Assign ICD-CM, CPT codes and modifiers as appropriate.
• Abstract and enter codes and demographic information into hospital systems.
• Resolve incomplete/missing chart documentation to expedite billing.
• Participate in quality assurance and reporting activities.
• Inform supervisor of backlogs or missing documents.
• Communicate with coding/billing staff to maximize efficiency.
• Complete patient abstracts mandated by regulatory agencies.
• Support determinations for utilization review and resource planning.
