Job summary

Merck in Rahway, NJ, is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer to design, implement, and automate security controls across enterprise cloud environments. This role partners with our Cloud, Application, DevOps, and Security teams to ensure cloud services are deployed securely and consistently.

You will design controls across AWS/Azure/GCP, secure identities and data, implement IaC guardrails, and integrate security into CI/CD. A Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of cloud security experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
• 8+ years of AWS/Azure/GCP architecture and security experience.
• Hands-on IAM, cloud networking, encryption, and secrets management.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes and container security.
• Familiarity with cloud security platforms such as Wiz, AWS Security Hub.
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement security controls across AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
• Secure cloud identity, networking, workloads, data, containers, and APIs.
• Build guardrails using IaC and policy-as-code.
• Integrate security into CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
• Identify and remediate misconfigurations and vulnerabilities.
• Support cloud security monitoring, logging, and incident response.
• Partner with engineering teams for security guidance and reviews.
