Peraton is seeking an experienced System Administrator - SME (Cloud, Hybrid) to support the USGS OCIO. The role spans on-prem data centers and multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) with a remote work location.

The candidate will provide technical leadership across Windows/Linux, virtualization, cloud optimization, migrations, DR, security, and observability. The ideal candidate has extensive hybrid IT experience, VMware and AWS hands-on skills, and the ability to design and implement modern

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus 10 years of experience, or Master’s with 8 years, or equivalent
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain Public Trust clearance
• Extensive systems administration experience in hybrid IT environments
• Expertise with VMware vCenter, ESXi/vSphere, vROPS and VMware Log Insight
• Hands-on AWS experience with EC2, S3, CloudFormation and migration tooling
• Proficiency with Windows Server and Linux/UNIX in enterprise or federal settings
• Experience with NAS/SAN storage and enterprise hardware
• Knowledge of Backup-to-Cloud and DR strategies
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, and GCP across workloads
• Experience with IAM, Active Directory and Patch management

Responsabilités

• Administer and maintain Windows Server and Linux/UNIX operating systems
• Manage VMware virtualization environments and related monitoring tools
• Administer AWS environments (EC2, S3, CloudFormation) and assist migrations
• Lead data migration from on-prem to cloud and document runbooks
• Manage NAS/SAN storage and backup/DR implementations
• Advise on cloud/hybrid architectures and workload placement
• Apply security patches and ensure compliance per standards
• Monitor systems and troubleshoot performance issues
• Support DevOps tooling and IaC deployments
• Maintain technical documentation and collaborate using Jira/Confluence/Teams
