Job summary

PlanIT Group in Reston, VA is seeking an Intermediate Cloud / AI Developer to design, build, test, and support Java-based cloud-native applications on GCP. You will deliver secure, scalable services and collaborate with DevOps, QA, Product Management, and security partners.

You will implement REST APIs, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and AI-enabled features while ensuring compliance, performance, and reliability across environments. Some remote flexibility is offered.

Qualifications

• Eight years or more of relevant experience in software development and cloud.
• Degree required; if not in the applicable field, four extra years of related experience.
• Clearance process and US citizenship or permanent residence may be required.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java backend services with modern practices.
• Build and enhance cloud-based solutions on GCP for data workflows.
• Develop and maintain REST APIs with authentication and integration patterns.
• Implement AI-enabled features and monitor quality and responsible use.
• Troubleshoot issues, perform root-cause analysis, and apply fixes.
• Apply secure coding practices and ensure compliance and auditing.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and release automation with DevOps.
• Establish observability with logging, metrics, dashboards and runbooks.
• Collaborate across engineering, QA, DevOps, product, and security.
• Participate in architecture discussions and mentor junior developers.
