Overview

This position is located at Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, NC. It is a Clinical Research Coordinator role participating in planning, design, execution, and management of research projects in a foundational health science research laboratory investigating PTSD in the Department of Psychiatry. The role includes developing and implementing study goals and objectives, assisting with new or revised research methodologies, testing experimental designs and sampling techniques, and contributing to analyses and recommendations for use of methodologies. It also involves literature review, preparation of research papers, manuscripts for publication, and presentation at national and international conferences and workshops. The position supports the preparation of project reports and proposals for extramural funding, coordinates laboratory activities and work assignments for postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, and staff, and oversees maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment. This position is funded by an existing grant in collaboration with DoD partners at Fort Bragg and requires the applicant to live near Fayetteville, NC.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, design, execute, and manage research projects in a health science laboratory focused on PTSD.
  • Develop and implement goals and objectives of studies; assist with development and implementation of new or revised research methodologies and techniques.
  • Test experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods; make recommendations for their utilization.
  • Establish controls, criteria, and research standards; perform critical analysis of literature relevant to the research.
  • Assist in preparation of research papers, manuscripts for publication, and presentations at conferences and workshops; contribute to writing of project reports and other documents.
  • Assist the principal investigator in preparing proposals to obtain new or renewed extramural funding.
  • Coordinate laboratory activities and work assignments for postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, and laboratory staff.
  • Oversee and coordinate maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1 year of relevant experience required.
  • Ability to translate, adapt, and apply academic and/or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research.
  • Experience in a biological/health science research capacity is preferred.
  • Successful completion of a background check; candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
