Responsibilities

• Verifies coverage of claimed property and casualty damage.
• Determines liability for covered claims by thorough investigation.
• Analyzes liability under Michigan municipal statutes and caselaw.
• Establishes timely reserves within authority based on exposure.
• Documents specifics of claims with potential for subrogation recovery.
• Manages estimates and invoices for property, casualty and auto claims; approves payments.
• Concludes and closes files after resolution to meet performance standards.
• Negotiates settlements within authority and with attorneys as needed.
• Works with manager on complex files above settlement/reserve authority.
• Manages outside vendors to contain costs.
• Maintains effective relationships with internal and external customers.
• Stays current on municipal liability statutes and case law.
