Job summary

Somewhere is seeking a Take-off Technician/Estimator for remote work to support excavation and sitework bids. You will produce quantity take-offs from civil plans, develop cost estimates, and leverage AI-assisted tools to speed up workflows.

The role requires at least 3 years estimating experience, CAD familiarity, and ability to work with incomplete information while making practical assumptions. This is a full-time, remote position.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate quantity take-offs from civil plans and specifications.
• Develop detailed cost estimates using plans, reports, and historical data.
• Utilize AI tools to assist with take-offs and document review while validating outputs.
• Maintain cost databases and project history for consistency.
• Assemble and submit complete bid packages.
• Identify scope gaps, conflicts, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Cross-check work for accuracy using manual and AI-supported methods.
• Maintain organized documentation of all estimates and assumptions.
• Provide regular progress updates and flag risks or missing information.
• Continuously improve workflows, tools, and accuracy.
