Job summary

Sovrano AI seeks a chemical engineer to test frontier AI models on real process engineering problems. You will evaluate model reasoning, check material and energy balances, and judge whether safety and feasibility conditions are met, with guidance to escalate to a licensed engineer when needed.

The role is fully remote, paid hourly, and starts with a first batch of about ten hours. Ideal candidates have 4+ years hands-on industry experience and a US/UK/Canada/Australia/EU base or remote

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum 4 years of hands-on chemical engineering experience.
• Based in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or the European Union; English at C1 or higher.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI answers for technical accuracy and logical soundness.
• Push models with realistic scenarios including plant troubleshooting and sizing.
• Mark up outputs where assumptions are missing or units are inconsistent.
• Review and refine prompts and explanations.
• Cover material and energy balances, phase behavior, and separations feasibility.
• Set standards for stating assumptions and professional judgment.
• Escalate to licensed professionals when appropriate.
