Job summary

Optum is seeking a Remote CDI professional to review clinical records and ensure alignment with evidence-based guidelines. The role emphasizes concise physician communication, documentation improvement, and collaboration with care coordination teams.

Expected responsibilities include timely chart reviews, education for physicians, and tracking productivity to support quality outcomes. Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS and inpatient reimbursement is preferred.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
• Current RN license or Medical School Graduate.
• RN: 3+ years acute inpatient CDI experience.
• Medical School Graduates: 2+ years acute inpatient CDI experience.
• Experience communicating with physicians and performing concurrent chart reviews.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS documentation requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provides expert level review of clinical records within 24-48 hours of admission.
• Communicates clearly with providers to reinforce guidelines.
• Tracks productivity for timely reporting of indicators and analyses.
• Leads improvement in clinical documentation with recommendations and rationale.
• Provides educational opportunities for physicians and health care team.
• Engages with Care Coordination and Quality Management to pursue CDI opportunities.
