Job summary

Medasource is seeking a CDI Nurse for a 6-month, 100% remote contract in Murray, Utah. The role focuses on concurrent and retrospective reviews of inpatient records to improve documentation quality and DRG accuracy.

Responsibilities include physician documentation liaison, education delivery to providers and CDI staff, and leading CDI initiatives while ensuring Joint Commission compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Biology, Health Sciences, or related field preferred.
• Five years of clinical work experience.
• Two years as a CDI Specialist or equivalent.
• Experience with MS-DRG and APR-DRG focused reviews.
• Knowledge of AMA, CMS, AAPC code sets and coding methodologies.
• Ability to conduct concurrent and retrospective reviews of inpatient records.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Public speaking and English proficiency.
• Proficiency with EMR systems and MS Office.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks independently.

Responsibilities

• Conduct concurrent and retrospective reviews of inpatient records to improve documentation quality.
• Facilitate physician documentation for accurate severity of illness, risk of mortality, and complexity of care.
• Lead CDI education initiatives for providers and staff.
• Onboard and train new CDI team members.
• Collaborate with HIMS coding staff for data accuracy and DRG assignment.
• Lead provider engagement for CDI initiatives.
• Ensure Joint Commission compliance and participate in quality projects.
• Drive documentation improvement initiatives across departments.
