Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a Coding/CDI Denials Analyst to review inpatient coding denials for accuracy and documentation support. The role includes composing appeals, identifying denials trends, and communicating DRG changes to improve processes.

Strong knowledge of Official Coding Guidelines and CDI practices is required. The position emphasizes remote work experience, collaboration with the Coding Quality & Integrity team, and ongoing education to reduce denials and improve

Qualifications

• 3-5 years acute hospital-based Coding and/or CDI experience.
• Equivalent education/experience may be considered.
• RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CCDS/CDIP preferred.
• RN with CDI experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Review coding and/or clinical denials ensuring guidelines and conventions are followed.
• Compose effective appeals with current guidelines and documentation.
• Identify coding/documentation trends and root causes of denials.
• Identify DRG changes and financial impact.
• Report education needs to Lead Denials Analyst and support front-end denial/appeals processes.
• Maintain expert knowledge of Coding/CDI guidelines and practices.
